Wow! Colorado is chock full of wildflowers at the moment, which means it’s the perfect time to do engagement photos!
Brittany and Aaron are getting married in Vail, and came up to Estes for their engagement session before the wedding.
They couldn’t have picked a better time! The fields around Lily Lake, which is just outside of Estes Park along Highway 7, are literally bursting with colors from wildflowers everywhere. It’s just amazing. It had rained earlier in the day, but the sun came out and dried everything off.
We headed up there a few days ago and found some amazingly beautiful places for their photos. It was such a perfect day: I love the smell of the forest after the rain. I love how clear and crisp everything looks.
The flowers bloom at different times in different areas around the state, but in Estes Park they seem to go nuts in June. This year was no different. Bee balm, alpine avens, sand lillies, wintergreen, and more. It’s just so colorful! We had a lot of fun touring the blooming fields at the base of Lily Mountain on a warm summer afternoon.
Reminds me of one of the coolest bridal bouquets I’ve ever seen: it was a very small wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park, and the bride’s best friend picked wildflowers from the mountains of Colorado and put them together into an amazing bouquet.
Anyway, can’t wait for Brittany and Aaron’s wedding, which is just around the corner. They’ve got a rockin’ crew coming from Texas for their celebration at the Sonenalp Resort in Vail Village. Their celebration will be set right up against Vail Creek in a little garden area with… you guessed it… TONS of flowers everywhere!
I love shooting in Rocky Mountain National Park. Be sure to check out my RMNP Engagements page and you can get a great idea of all the beautiful backdrops in this gorgeous town.
