Courtney and Jeff got married at Della Terra Mountain Chateau here in Estes Park, and the day after the wedding we did an engagement session. I know, I know, sort of backwards, but rules are meant to be broken.
While the wedding day itself was absolutely dumping, the day after greeted us with bluebird skies and a few feet of snow on the ground.
Perfect! Let’s make a mess!!
One thing I like to do during snowy engagement sessions is get into snowball fights with clients. Usually it’s a one way sort of thing, since I don’t have three arms and can’t defend myself while taking pictures. So, they throw snowballs at me, and I operate the camera.
I like to tell people to aim for my lens, because I want the photos to look like they’re really trying to hit me. Nobody ever does. Or, rather, nobody ever did, until Courtney threw a 4 inch fastball directly into the sunshade of my lens and it exploded all over the front filter. Hey, I’m insured and cameras these days are pretty bomb proof. It’ll take more than a snowball to cause damage. I just won’t ask her to throw a baseball at me…
Someone’s got a future in the majors!
Their gorgeous snowy wedding can be seen here and you can learn more about Della Terra here and Estes Park here.
Meanwhile, here are a few favorites from their engagement session, which was just outside Rocky Mountain National Park.
