Akumal wedding photographer

Akumal, a tiny little village between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, is smack dab in the beautiful Rivera Maya. If you’re looking for an Akumal wedding photographer for your big day, check out our portfolios above and poke through our resource pages. Hopefully you’ll find them useful as you plan your nuptials and get ideas for awesome photo ops.

Akumal is characterized by some beautiful beaches, an abundance of cenotes and underground caves, and some beautiful jungle coming right up to the beach. The weather is fairly stable but it’s still probably safest to get married in Akumal during the late winter or early spring. If you close your eyes and imagine getting married in the Yucatan, you’ve probably imagined tying the knot here: good food, salsa dancing, mariachi, margaritas, endless sandy beaches, and turquoise water.

One of our most memorable wedding photography experiences in the Akumal region was taking a bride and groom into a local cenote for an underwater TTD session before the cenote park opened for business. The pictures from that session were among the couple’s favorites from their whole image collection.

Akumal wedding venues

What follows is a list of some of the top wedding venues in Akumal: Gran Bahia Principe, Grand Palladium Riviera Resort, Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort, Grand Palladium Colonial Resort, and the Gran Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an Resort. Some other favorite hotels are the Aquatech Villas, Luna Azul Condos, Be Live Grand Riviera Maya, and the Hotel Akumal Caribe. Other folks are have said nice things about the Barcelo Maya Palace.

What to do in Akumal

You don’t need to search hard to find some fun activities during your wedding weekend in Akumal. Go scuba diving or snorkeling, rent a kayak, check out a cenote (or even dive in one), or take a trip to somewhere like Hidden Worlds and do a trash the dress photography session! You can also head down the coast to check out some interesting Mayan ruins, or head to Playa del Carmen and take a ferry over to Cozumel for a look around.

Dreamtime Verdict: Akumal

Akumal is a great place to get married if you want ease of access, an authentic Mexican feel, and a lack of high-rise megaresorts. Instead, you’ll find lots of bungalows, tiny and boutique hotels, and really nice accomodations without the large crowds you’d expect up in Cancun.
