Abaco Wedding Photography
One of our first international jobs was as a wedding photographer on Abaco, for a wedding at the Ritz Carlton on Winding Bay in the Bahamas. It’s a stunning resort destination that’s private, has awesome facilities, and a huge bay with a little island in its center. However, it’s not the only place to get married here — there are lots more quality options. Those include, on Great Abaco, the Green Turtle, the Abaco Beach Resort, Island Breezes, and the Bluff House Beach Hotel.
About The Abaco Islands
The Abaco Islands are a chain of pristine Bahaminian islands in the north part of the country, spanning nearly 800 square miles. Marsh Harbor, the Abaco’s largest city, has a scant population of a little less than 6,000 inhabitants. The other 7,000 people are scattered amongst the nooks and crannies of the other islands. The Abaco Islands are known as the sailing capital of the Bahamas, and as such, sailing charters are an oft-considered honeymoon possibilty. The Abacos sport six national parks and reserves, including Pelican Cays Land & Sea Park and Walker’s Cay National Park.
Where to get married in the Abaco Islands
We consider the Abaco Club on Winding Bay absolutely fantastic for wedding photography. The clients we’ve had who’ve chosen the Abaco Club had traveled throughout the Caribbean searching for a perfect place to get married, and fell in love with the venue instantly. The property is built around a large bay, with a small private island at its center. You can actually paddle a kayak out to the island and could conceivably get married on the beach there, but instead our clients chose to wed on the white sands of Winding Bay proper. The bride walked up the beach on a horse, and all the guests were instructed to wear white. We thought the simplicity of the attire was a perfect choice, because the there were no distractions from the bride, groom and brilliant blue tones in the sky and ocean. But as mentioned before, other fantastic places to get married include The Green Turtle, the Abaco Beach Resort, Island Breezes and the Bluff House Beach Hotel.
Dreamtime Verdict
The Abaco Islands are quiet, serene, peaceful and well off the beaten path. You should seriously consider getting married in the Abaco Islands if you are looking for a place where you can disappear and really spend undistracted, quality time with your friends. The venues here are among the best around, so getting married on Abaco is great if you’re looking for a intimate to medium sized wedding with tranquility and nobody else around.
