Photos of one Telluride's finest wedding venues
Town of Mountain Village, Colorado

The Peaks Resort is located in Mountain Village, a small enclave connected to Telluride with a free, scenic gondola that runs year round.

If you’re planning a wedding in Telluride, CO, it’s definitely worthwhile to consider getting married at the Peaks Resort in Mountain Village.

The Peaks is a beautiful slopeside resort, spa and residency complex offering a number of beautiful on-site wedding ceremony venues, beautiful rooms, fine dining, and easy and quick access to many of Telluride’s best amenities. Wedding photographers shooting at The Peaks Resort in Telluride have it pretty easy.

Telluride is split into two little areas: downtown Telluride, and then the area of Mountain Village, which offers many, many ski-in, ski-out resorts on the side of the ski mountain. The Peaks Resort is one of those properties. If you choose a winter wedding, you can walk out of your room, down to the ski valet, and be on a lift within five minutes.

There are so many cool areas to create beautiful wedding photos at The Peaks, and I highly recommend it.

Wedding dress at The Peaks Resort

There is a cool open space between all the floors at the Peaks, allowing for interesting photos of hanging wedding dresses.

First, let’s start with the inside of the Peaks Resort building, and how that helps with nice wedding photos.

When I photograph brides and grooms getting ready for their big day, I get to enjoy the beautiful window light in the resort’s suites, and the airy, luxurious feeling of the rooms. The decor is rustic yet modern at the same time, and there’s lots of space to spread out and work. In some of the suites there are wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows with soft translucent shades that fill the area with soft light. This makes for beautiful bridal portraits.

Outside the rooms there is interesting architecture in the public spaces, which allows me to make interesting photographs of details such as the bride’s dress. The resort’s common areas are spacious, with high ceilings and large, vaulted windows overlooking the slopes and the towering San Juan Mountains.

Also, take note that the resort has an absolutely huge fitness area — if you get rained out of a summer hike or bike ride, you or your wedding guests will still be able to get a workout.

There is an amazing ballroom at the Peaks that overlooks the slopes, with really cool, modern lighting overhead.

Winter wedding at the Peaks Resort

One of the ceremony sites at the Peaks is just outside the building, allowing for warm (there are heaters) wedding ceremonies even when it snows.

Outside the building, there are a number of beautiful ceremony sites: The Palymra Deck and the Mount Wilson Terrace.

If you get married on the Palmyra Deck, your wedding photos from the Peaks Resort will have the incredible views of the San Juans with nothing in the way. The Palmyra Deck is an open air patio with glass walls and seating for around 100 people. Weddings can be photographed there year round, and even in winter, space heaters will keep your guests cozy.

The Mount Wilson Terrace is a larger outdoor area, with great views and space for events with up to 300 guests. Adjacent is the very cool Crystal Room with floor to ceiling windows for cocktails and dancing. Although, the Mount Wilson can house a tent for large celebrations that are all in one place.

The Peaks Resort also has a number of other venues for weddings of various sizes.

The pastry chefs at the Peaks Resort are pretty incredible, and the deserts they serve are super good.

The San Sophia Overlook is one of the prime wedding ceremony sites in Telluride. This photo shows some of the views of the San Juan Mountains from there.

This bride and groom shared a kiss at the San Sophia Overlook in Telluride, as the winter clouds cleared over the valleys beneath the San Juan Mountains.

I heartily endorse the Peaks Resort for your wedding!

I love its big rooms, great ceremony venues, and easy access to all that Telluride and the mountain has to offer. You and your wedding guests get slopeside access, but you can walk to the free gondola in five minutes and take the trip over to the town of Telluride for a fun night out, or up to Allred’s Restaurant near San Sophia Overlook for a great rehearsal dinner.

The Peaks Resort is one of my favorite wedding venues in Mountain Village and it offers so many wonderful wedding photography opportunities.
